St. John's Seminary (1982) Cert. Spiritual Direction, Mt. Angel (2000) St. John's Seminary (1987-1990/2000)
Fr. Cardenas studied Philosophy with the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He then studied two years at the Major Seminary of the Archdiocese of Mexico, in Mexico City, finishing his theological studies at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, CA. He then worked for thirteen years in parish ministry and four years in formation. He served as pastor of St. Katherine's in Del Rey, Ca. and was part of a team that served three parishes in the Diocese of Fresno from 1982 to 1986. He served for one year in St. Martha's Parish in Huntington Park, Ca, before beginning his first term of formation ministry at St. John's Seminary from 1987 to 1990. From 1990 to 1991 he was the Vice-rector of the Novitiate of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in Long Beach. From 1991 to 1999 he returned to parish ministry at St. Martha in Huntington Park, Ca. From 1999 to 2000 he returned to his formal studies at Mount Angel, Oregon, receiving his Certificate in Spiritual Direction before returning to St. John's Seminary in 2000. |
