Academic Formation
The goal of academic formation at St. John’s is
the conversion of mind and heart. We seek to help the student understand
academic theology as a central focus for the formation of the Christian
community. Ultimately, to awaken in every student an appreciation for the
preparation for ministry as a deepening of one’s understanding of the word of
God in order to celebrate that word through sacramental ministry.
The Academic Program of St. John’s Seminary provides graduate level theological education in preparation for ministry. Our primary degree, for ordination candidates only, is the Master of Divinity which follows a curriculum prescribed by the American Bishops in their Program for Priestly Formation, 4th ed. St. John’s also offers a complete pre-theology program and an M.A. degree. Qualified lay candidates may be admitted to the M.A. program. For more information, click on the links below:
