bulletThe Master of Divinity Degree

[Student at Computor Terminal]The Master of Divinity degree at St. John’s Seminary is dedicated to the integration of theological excellence and pastoral effectiveness. The Master of Divinity is a professional degree. Its focus is the preparation of seminarians for effective ordained ministry in the Church. During eight academic semesters the seminarians are given a thorough grounding in Catholic theology by following 111 units in the traditional fields of Systematic, Moral, Biblical theology and Church History. At the same time the seminarian is required to participate in a rigorous series of Field Education courses and experiences, including a five month internship at a parish, that demand the integration of theological reflection and the development of pastoral skills.

 

bulletThe Master of Arts Degree

The Master of Arts is an academic degree intended to help a student acquire theological excellence in general and specific expertise in a chosen area of concentration. St. John’s Seminary offers five areas of concentration in its M.A. program; Biblical Studies, Church History, Moral Theology, Spiritual Theology, or Systematic Theology.
